Tips
A few things to remember when creating files for our digital printer
- All images must be converted to CMYK. An RGB image can cause unforseen color shifts.
- The CMYK images should have no ICC profiles embedded. ICC profiles can cause conflicts when creating PDFs.
- Images need to be sized correctly. If you want your image to print at 3”x6”, the image needs to be 3”X6” at 300 pixels per inch. Although it may look OK on your screen, lower resolution images will look pixilated when they print. NEVER use images from the web.
- If your job needs to bleed off a page, your PDF file needs to as well. We cannot add bleeds to a PDF file.
- If using Pantone colors, they must be defined as a Pantone color in the application, otherwise they will be converted to the application (Quark, InDesign) CMYK recipes for that color. The digital press does a better job of Pantone matching than most applications.
- Pantone colors and transparency CANNOT overlap. The file will not print properly, even if you flatten the transparency on output.
- Define all blacks as 100% K, not rich black.
- Maximum image area on the digital press is 14"x22".
- We will imposition your files. Do not turn or re-paginate your file.
Making a PDF
- When exporting your file to a PDF, choose the PDF x1a setting with no profiles included.
- Embed all fonts.
- Include .125" bleeds on all sides of the file.
